The game of cricket has never seen the kind of money or the media hype that the introduction of the Indian Premier League has brought to it when it started in 2008. Barely two years old, this "Manoranjan ka Baap" has already revolutionized the way cricketers now look at the sport. After the second season was shifted to the Rainbow nation, the cricket fanatic crowds of India should be in for a grand spectacle as the IPL returns home for its third edition.

IPL 3.0 will kick off in March later this year with defending champions Deccan Chargers hosting the Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening contest. The third edition of this extravagant cricket event promises to be bigger and better with the addition of new venues and a whole lot of other changes. Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala and Vishakapatnam will get the feel of cricket’s "Million Dollar Baby" for the first time this year, as they are set to play hosts to a few matches for the Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers respectively.

ESPN 3D launches in June with World Cup soccer-Football,3D television network,FIFA World Cup

ESPN is going to launch the industry’s first 3D television network. The sports programmer is making a big bet on the format, announcing plans introduce a 3D TV network this summer.

The Walt Disney Co. unit said Tuesday that the new channel — ESPN 3D — will feature at least 85 live sporting events during its first year, beginning June 11 with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match South Africa vs. Mexico.

USA Today is reporting ESPN 3D will start broadcasting this summer with a World Cup soccer match, with additional content coming from the Summer X Games (we won’t have to wait for the flick to hit theaters this time) NBA games, and college basketball & football. DirecTV still hasn’t confirmed its rumored plans for 3D, but CableLabs CEO Paul Liao is quoted calling the level of engagement 3D sports presents viewers as "unprecedented." More details on exactly how 3D in the home will happen are sure to come throughout the week — we’ve already been blown away by 3D sports, it looks like everyone else will have their chance in just a few months.

Jay Towers has exited the morning show on 97.1 "The Ticket" (WXYT). Towers had served as co-host with Bill McAllister on the top rated CBS Sports Talk station for two years and broke the news of his departure while anchoring the weekend news on Fox 2 Detroit. Towers remains with Fox where he’s served as weekend anchor/news reporter, but an announcement is forthcoming on Towers’ next venture. Towers, a market vet, has hosted mornings in the Motor City most of his career that also has included programming stops at WDRQ/Detroit and WIOQ/Philadelphia.

"Incarcerated Bob" has been a popular caller into sports radio shows for years, particularly known on WFAN in New York, and according to the Twitter feed @incarceratedbob which apparently belongs to him, he has died.

That was followed up with these two tweets:

The updates have apparently been posted by Incarcerated Bob’s family, who say they will very much miss Incarcerated Bob, though the outpouring of Twitter support has helped.

The account says it will post funeral arrangements tomorrow afternoon.Though some on Twitter say that the death of Incarcerated Bob has been "confirmed," it is difficult to authenticate the Twitter account and the news of his death at this time.

According to several sources, golfer Tiger Woods is planning on entering a rehab facility in Wickenburg, Arizona for "sexual compulsion" and alleged usage of Vicodin and Ambien.The series of events that have led to Woods‘ alleged entrance into rehab have occurred quickly and are centered around the shocking news of the extramarital affairs that Woods‘ has engaged in.

If this rumor of Tiger Woods Sex Addiction turns out to be true it seems as if Tiger Woods is currently attending a rehab centre in Arizona, a source released this statement “He has been there for a few days since his handlers forced him to enter the program.”

MIAMI GARDENS – The Miami Dolphins finished out Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh with third-string quarterback Tyler Thigpen playing the entire fourth quarter.
Thigpen was called into duty because Chad Henne, the team’s starting quarterback, suffered an eye injury in the first half and wasn’t allowed to return to the game, and Pat White suffered a serious head injury in the third quarter.
The hit to White‘s head occurred at 2:05 in the third quarter when White tried to convert a third-and-8 but fell just short on his 7-yard run. White, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound rookie from West Virginia, was forced out of bounds by Ike Taylor‘s physical hit.
White laid motionless on the Steelers sideline for a couple of minutes before getting carted off the field, prompting Thigpen to play in his first game with the Dolphins.
